Ok guys, so it’s that time of year again… Sephora + Pantone Universe revealed the Color of the Year for 2015 which is “Marsala”. It is a beautiful nude, rich wine colour. I personally adore it. I picked up the Sephora + Pantone Universe “Facets of Marsala Multi-Finish Eye Palette” (that’s a mouthful!) It is a LIMITED EDITION palette. I had purchased the other Eye Palette from last year and I really liked it so as soon as I saw this palette and the WARM stunning shades I knew it had to be mine. It was even the last one in my local Sephora… it was meant to be (or that’s what I keep telling myself!) It retails for CAD$49.00//US$39.00. You can purchase it online or in store at Sephora.
This is how it came packaged
The back of the packaging… they give you the Pantone paint shades which all correspond to the shadow colours which is cool!
The palette itself is a beautiful rose gold… it’s just beautiful and so sleek (especially compared to last years palette)
Here is the back of the palette. The names of the shades are written here which is nice to have to refer to.
This palette is much smaller than last year’s palette and the shadows are also much smaller as well. You get 24 shades in this year’s palette. Last year you got 24 shades as well along with a larger blush shade. Last year’s palette was almost $10 more expensive though, but I still feel you got more of a bang for your buck. I’m not complaining though, I much prefer the shades in this year’s palette!
Here is a comparison from last year’s palette & this year’s.
As you can see this year’s palette is much more compact. I actually prefer this size and packaging of this year’s palette much more. It’s sleeker and more travel friendly. Last year’s palette is pretty bulky and a pain to travel with.
This palette comes with a nice big mirror as well which is a plus
The colour of the year Marsala is put in this palette four times but with different finishes. They offer a matte, satin, metallic and glitter.
This palette is definitely very warm. The colour of the year is a warm rich shade so I feel this whole palette represents that. If you love warm eye shadows then this is the palette for you. It’s definitely for me as I can’t get enough of these rich warm shades. Marsala has been a popular colour lately, especially with the Fall and Winter seasons so I feel it is the perfect colour to be chosen.
This palette has an array of different finishes from matte, satin, metallic and glitter. It’s a very versatile palette which is awesome.
I have to say that some shades are more pigmented than others and there tends to be some fallout with certain shades more than others. It’s definitely not a deal breaker but it’s something to be aware of. Some of the shades could definitely afford to be more pigmented but for the most part they all carry nice pigmentation.
Here are the swatches. I swatched them in groups of four, from left to right & top to bottom (No primer was used for any of these swatches)
As you can see they are, for the most part, really nicely pigmented. There are a few shades that didn’t quite cut it for me and also I felt there were a few too many repeats/similar looking shades. I would have preferred if there was a nice matte cream shade for the brow bone or a rich black. Other than that I am honestly in love with this palette. I think they did an awesome job this year! Let me know your thoughts beauties.

that’s a gorgeous palette!! ><
Gorgeous!!
I swatched a few shades at Sephora, and they were gorgeous. The more sparkly shades were not as pigmented, but most looked awesome.
I already have 2 other Sephora palettes plus others that don’t get used as often as they should, so I don’t know if I will get this one. But it is gorgeous!
Wow! That palette is GORGEOUS! I haven’t seen it at Sephora yet (but my Christmas gift card is already burning a hole in my pocket…)
Awesome photos Julia. Happy New Year!
